While you are visiting Oamaru try to allow time to visit the endangered Blue Penguins and the beautiful rare Yellow Eyed Penguins.  Take a break with a tasting at the Whitestone Cheese Factory, have a look at the Steam Punk Museum and the Limestone Quarry where the famous Oamaru Stone comes from and for the fishermen you can experience your dream by catching a Wild Waitaki Salmon or a Rainbow or Brown Trout on the Waitaki River.
